Travel | Spring in Grand Marais

Hi friends! Today I’m going to take you to one of my all-time favourite places – Grand Marais, Minnesota. It’s a small lakeside town about an hour and a half away from Thunder Bay and I go there as many times as a girl can over the summer. It’s the perfect place to go for a little day-long getaway, there are plenty of cute little shops and scenery = the perfect place to spend the day walking around and exploring. This past Tuesday Tyler and I went out to Grand Marais for the first time this summer, this is what we got up to!

First we wanted to walk off the drive so we headed out along the rocks and path that leads out on a peninsula to the lighthouse in the harbour.Β Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

After sitting and resting for awhile by the lighthouse we decided to head back into town and get something to eat. The Gunflint Tavern (named after the famous Gunflint Hiking Trail) is my go-to spot to grab some lunch in Grand Marais. It always has super friendly staff and a nice mixture of locals and people passing through, (and obviously great food too).

Neither of us were feeling great after lunch so we ended up just walking around the town a bit. We picked up some fudge and salt water taffy – a must – and then visited a few of the shops as well as the art gallery (free entry!! just saying). Since we were feeling a bit off we decided to head home a bit early, but it was still a successful little getaway in my opinion.

I’m sure I’ll be heading by Grand Marais again soon so hopefully I’ll have some more pictures to share with you then! Until then, hope you liked these pictures! Feel free to check out some of the other posts I’ve written about my favourite places in and around Thunder Bay πŸ™‚
