Aloha friends! I recently did a spot of shopping over on the L’Occitane website because:
a. I wanted a Beauty Advent Calendar this year and their’s seems like the best bang for your buck.
b. I spent some time in their duty free shop in the Dublin Airport and everything smelled amazing and I’ve been obsessed ever since.
Obviously, the first thing I picked up was their Beauty Advent Calendar, but there will be more on that in a later post as we near December (but I would totally recommend if you’re looking for one!)
I only actually purchased two other items, but I also received their October Beauty Gift (Free!!), and three samples, and a free gift wrapping kit (excellent for blog posts like this, also excellent to rewrap in Christmas paper and use to box a gift). On top of all that, I also received free shipping. To be fair, I did end up spending $80 CAD, and some of the perks came from spending over a certain amount, but I 100% feel like I got my money’s worth – which is exactly how you want to feel when you’re spending money you really shouldn’t!
The first thing I picked out was a hand cream – the Small Arlesienne Velvet Hand Cream. Can I just say how much I love the packaging for their hand creams? These kinds of tubes are the easiest to get all the cream out of, and they’re adorable. Win, win, am I right? I’m not going to lie, I had no idea what “Arlesienne” is supposed to smell like – rose, sweet violet, and saffron. No clue how those smelled together, but I trusted that it would smell amazing, as everything from L’Occitane does, and I was not disappointed. For $10 CAD, this is a pretty sizable amount of cream (30ml) and it’s high quality, soothes my already drying hands (curse the cold weather!) and smells delicious. 10/10 would purchase again, though I’m interested in trying other scents before I commit to this one.
The only other item I bought was the Limited Edition 2016 Shea Lip Balm. When I was visiting in Toronto a few weeks ago I stopped by the L’Occitane counter in Hudson’s Bay and the worker, my aunt, and I chatted about their Shea Butter products. I really wanted to buy one then but I couldn’t commit as their pure Shea Butter products are quite expensive. This one on the other hand is only $12 CAD, and though it’s not pure Shea Butter I’m perfectly pleased with it. It’s quite a thick lip balm when it comes out, but it settles sheerly on your lips and sinks in quickly. It’s perfect for putting on just before a lipstick, or just before bed, or any other time that my lips are feeling particularly chapped. I’ve stuck with my Lucas Pawpaw Ointment for so long now, but this is a strong contender for my new favourite lip balm!
Free October Gift
Inside the free October gift was a little makeup pouch, a small bar of Shea Butter Extra Gentle Milk Soap, a 10ml tube of Almond Delicious Hand Cream, 2 divine cream samples, and 2 divine eye cream samples. The only things I kept from the gift were the pouch, and the Almond Delicious Cream which I love! I’ve never used a hand cream that smelled this good, and moisterised my hands perfectly – not leaving them feeling sticky, but also not leaving them feeling not fully moisturised. I gave the rest of my samples to my mom, as the Divine Cream range is geared towards anti-aging, and the milk soap is something that she loves. I thought this was such an added bonus to my purchase and a very generous gift to be giving away for free! The samples were generous sizes and the inclusion of a little makeup pouch was a nice touch. They also packaged it so sweetly in a clear plastic giftwrap; I was thoroughly impressed with the gift and it absolutely makes me want to order from them again.
3 Free Samples
I picked out a set of samples from the Divine range, again for my mother. I’m interested in seeing how well she thinks they work and I’ll update this post as she tries them out. However I will add that another three samples on top of the free gift was surprising! I feel like L’Occitane gave me more free stuff than stuff I actually paid for with this order. Loving that feeling.
L’Occitane has free shipping on all orders over $75, and their Beauty Advent Calendar is $59 CAD.
Let me know if you’ve shopped at L’Occitane, this is my first purchase with them and I’d love to hear about your experiences with them and what your favourite products are! Thanks for reading,
