Travel | Temple Bar & Downtown Dublin

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

Here is the last little segment on my Irish adventures! Last October I travelled to Ireland to visit a friend for reading week. Since then, I’ve been slowly putting together little collections of photos from my visit and documenting all my adventures there for you! In case you missed it, I’ve already done posts for Phoenix Park and Dun Laoghairenow here’s what I got up to when I stayed in downtown Dublin and spent my days walking around O’Connell Street and Temple Bar. One day, I venture off a little bit to visit the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland – totally worth it! I’ve added in some of the pictures I took there too, because they’re some of my favourites.

The National Botanic Gardens of Ireland

I had to walk about half an hour to get here, probably would have been way easier to get a cab or take the bus, but I really wanted to take the opportunity to see Dublin! I was not disappointed by my walk, I got outside of the central business area and got to see some cute neighborhoods and parks and residential areas and such. Processed with VSCO with m5 preset

Entry to the gardens is free (lush!) and the gardens are huge. Even though it’s a bit out of the way, if you’re a fan of botanic gardens, it’s definitely worth going to. It was a bit rainy when I got there, but there were plenty of conservatories to dip into and big trees to hide under, and I was wearing my hunter boots and raincoat, so I wasn’t too bothered. They also have art installations all over the place, I don’t think I got a picture of many but they were awesome! More places should do that, it really added to the experience!Processed with VSCO with f2 presetProcessed with VSCO with f2 preset

Here’s one of the installations I mentioned!

The rest of my days downtown were spent shopping in and around O’Connell street, and walking over to the Dublin Castle and Temple Bar area. Here are some pictures from O’Connell street and the surrounding area (aka pictures I took walking to the area from my hotel).

Dublin Castle & Temple Bar

Okay, I never went in Dublin Castle because I was super hungry and anxious feeling, and I only really went for dinner in Temple Bar (after walking to Dublin Castle, ha!). I didn’t take too many pictures in either area, but here are a few! Processed with VSCO with g3 presetProcessed with VSCO with f2 presetProcessed with VSCO with f2 presetProcessed with VSCO with f2 preset

Ladurée Dublin

Ladurée is just a bit beyond the Temple Bar area, and I found it completely by accident. I was walking around looking for places to shop (because I really didn’t have anything else to do) and I started having horrible indigestion and anxiety. Turn the corner – cue angels singing – and there’s a Ladurée. Blessed. I got a green tea and a pistachio macaron, sat outside and people watched. The man who helped me was beyond lovely and I felt a lot better after going, so I thought it deserved it’s own special shout out!

A Chiara Ferragni box! I was so happy to see that.

And that’s that! Some notes about my stay downtown – I stayed at the Belvedere Hotel, which was perfectly lovely and the location was great – not too central, but not too far from central, and it had a nice cafe on the corner! I didn’t take any buses apart from getting from UCD area to downtown, and I didn’t take any cabs apart from the one I took to the airport. The bus from downtown to the airport was only around 30 euro (I believe… it was awhile ago now). If you have any other questions just let me know!! I’ll do my best to answer!

These pictures were (mostly) edited in VSCO with the F2 preset, and taken on my iPhone 6.

Hope you enjoyed!

x Sabrina
