Best Concealers for Under-Eye Circles

As you may very well know from reading around here, I have chronic undereye circles thanks to my wonderful Mediterranean heritage! While I have lots of love for my Mediterranean roots, I have less love for their gift of undereye circles. Learning how to not look like I’m constantly sleep deprived was a struggle – eye creams seem to have a minimal affect, and colour correcting seems to fade away almost instantly. After years of playing around, I thought I would do a roundup of my favourite concealers! This one’s  for covering my undereye circles for the rest of my brothers and sisters who live their lives looking chronically fatigued (whether you are or not is an entire other thing).
1. Urban Decay’s 24/7 Pencil Concealer. I’ve given a loooooot of love to this concealer in my Best of Beauty in 2016 and other favourites, so I won’t dwell too long. The best things about it: the colour saturation, the consistency, and the longevity of wear. I never only wear concealer, but this is my go-to ‘base’ concealer. If I notice that my eyes are particularly purple-y I’ll add this on to cancel it out – it’s the BEST for that. This is one I’ll always re-purchase.
2. Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer. It’s not one that I’ve talked a lot about around here, but it’s a well hyped concealer across the pond. Unfortunately for my American and Canadian readers, it’s not as easy to get your hands on – I’ve never seen one on this side of the Atlantic. This concealer is the BEST for coverage. It’s thick in consistency and it doesn’t blotch up or set in lines (as long as you set it with powder). This is one of my go-to ‘top coat’ concealer – it brightens up the undereye, and has a dense level of coverage.
3. MAC’ Select Cover Up. This concealer reminds me of paint when I apply it- it’s not watery or running and the colour doesn’t get more transparent when you apply it. This is my other go-to for high coverage, so if you can’t get Collection’s Lasting Perfection, give this one a try! I wrote a whoooole review for it, but the jist of it is that it’s high coverage and long lasting.
4. RMS Beauty Un-Cover Up Concealer/Foundation. Unlike the other two, RMS Beauty’s concealer is light coverage. This is the concealer I use on a day-to-day basis, it doesn’t completely coverage my under-eye circles, but it makes them look wayyyyy less harsh. I don’t usually wear a full face of makeup, but if I don’t put on at least a lil cover up, it looks like I haven’t slept in days. I feel like that looks unprofessional, so RMS beauty to the rescue!

As you can see, there’s quite a variety of shades and tones here. That’s because I tend to use one more beige/orange toned concealer to help cancel out the purple/blueness of my circles, and then I use a lighter concealer to brighten it up!

And this is what it ends up looking like on a very average makeup day! If you look closely enough you can probably still tell I look a little sleepy but it’s not neaaaaarly what it would be without my trusty concealers!
What are YOUR go-to under eye concealers? I’m always up to try something new!

  1. I’m with you on the hereditary dark circles! I’ll have to check out that Urban Decay one – it’s something I’ve seen in stores but never heard much about. I also like the Tarte Shape Tape concealer as it wears well on me. Plus the shade that suits my skin depth has peach undertones for built-in color correcting.

  2. Have you ever tried Maracuja Creaseless Concealer by Tarte? I have awful dark circles and I swear by this stuff. It’s super thick which turns a lot of people off but I love it because it’s the only stuff i’ve found that actually covers my circles. I think you might like it. 🙂
