Homeboy's Gonna GET IT!

DYING at the title. This post is allllll about how to style runners when you’re feet just can’t do it anymore. You know when you’re travelling and your feet are screaming with every step and you want with ALL your heart to just wear comfortable runners, but your vanity is like “I mustn’t sacrifice my outfit!” Well that’s exactly what happened to me last week – SOLUTION:
(Sidenote: title is a reference to the HILARIOUS video of Bella Hadid talking about trainers – watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHvUGgA5vhI)

I think the trick to pulling off runners while also looking stylish is to find the balance between trying not look like you’re trying too hard to pull off sneakers and not looking like you don’t realize that you can’t wear runners with just anything. It’s a fine line, really. My advice: nothing that cuts too close to the sneaker, stick to basic fabrics, and just generally avoid anything that looks super fancy and will make your runners stick out – you want it to look seamless like no one really notices the runners.

My approach was veryyyy street style, raw hemmed jean is super casual but also very “in” right now, and the miniskirt aspect takes the attention from my shoes to my legs. I picked a sheer top with a black crop tank underneath because it, again, steals attention away from the sneakers. The top duo is something you’d see more on an evening out, but the jean skirt and runners turn it into more a day thing.

Colour-wise I stuck with muted tones, with only the jean giving any colour (but does it really count if it’s just blue jean? I don’t know.) I really only chose to do this because I was travelling and my grey runners were the only ones I had. Personally, I think it’s way easier to style colourful runners – I have a lovely bright pink + orange pair from Nike that are gorg and look more like a statement shoe than a runner. Since these ones look very much like they’re just used for jogging, I had to reign in the rest of the outfit to suit it.
