Arthur’s Seat Lit Up Yellow

*This post contains gifted items of clothing, both the coat and the jumper were gifted by Peregrine UK. Peregrine is a brand that I reached out to, to work with because they are Made in Britain, and use sustainable practices. They produce a really high degree of quality in their clothing!
I have been up Arthur’s Seat only once in my life. Situated at the tipy top of Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, it’s quite a little hike to get up, and, to be honest, I usually can’t be bothered. I go up Calton Hill every other week, and I regularly explore the other seven hills of Edinburgh, but I’ve only gone up Arthur’s Seat once. Today was not that day. Today we went up just high enough that we got a decent view, but more importantly, we got to get up close and personal with all the yellow gorse flourishing in Holyrood Park.

Sunny Days In Circus Lane, One of Edinburgh’s “Hidden Gems”

Sunny skies are a rare occasion in Edinburgh, and usually if they’re there, you don’t know they’re coming. It’s really unusual for me to be able to dress for good weather, but every once in awhile a few days of sun come along and I try my best to make the most of it! Otherwise I’ll have a wardrobe full of skirts, shorts, and dresses that never get worn. Luckily, I was staying on top of the weather last week and an opportunity to go to Circus Lane (in Edinburgh) and wear one of my favourite dresses on a day out with my friend arose!

Mixing Prints and Patterns

Mixing prints is not something I usually do, and mixing tartan on tartan is definitely something I never thought I’d do. But when I left my house yesterday it was chucking it down and I grabbed my umbrella and off I went. It wasn’t until I was updating my Instagram (@arcticsabrina) stories that I realised I was mixing two different colours of tartan. I usually wouldn’t even wear more than one piece of tartan, and ever since moving to Edinburgh I generally avoid it at all costs. I brought my kilt home at christmas and left it there, and these trousers have been at the back of my wardrobe collecting dust. It just feels like a bit much when I wear tartan now, like a bit of an overkill. But yesterday I think I achieved the peak of ‘didn’t you know I live in Scotland now?‘ with my accidental tartan mix-up….

Styling Neck Scarves

Styling Neck Scarves as the Ultimate! Transition! Piece!

Edinburgh has been inordinately warm in FEBRUARY. The winter itself has been incredibly mild. I don’t think it’s ever been colder than -3 celsius. Incredible, if you ask me, but my relationship with existentialism and global warming has taken a hit as a result. Separate but related thought: one thing I’ve started doing recently is trying to use accessories to change up my outfits. I have a bit of a capsule wardrobe since I moved with only one suitcase, and I try not to spend too much money on consumerism and fast fashion. Instead of buying tons of new clothes here, I’ve bought little accessories to try to fancy up outfits, and create more outfit options to create with what I own. Even when I moved, I brought with me not one, but two neck scarves. One suitcase, two neck scarves. I love them. Here’s how I style my neck scarves!

OOTD | Pine Trees and Paisley

DDBC6BA5-EAFD-4136-B6E5-A214AF3FF6AAOK full disclosure: no ACTUAL pine trees in this post, pine trees just = winter. Paisley on the other hand is here and ready to STAY this season! Today’s outfit is ANOTHER attempt to bring dresses into my winter wardrobe, while also adding some hints of summer to brighten it up. Today’s summer hint? You guessed it! Paisley. Iconic.

OOTD | Dressing for Winter

I’m a big fan of dresses. I know they’re not for everyone, but to me they’re such an easy way to be comfortable and chic, it’s too good to pass up. Of course, part of the comfort question is the style of dress. For a loooooong time I stuck strictly to bodycon and skater dresses because I felt like anything that didn’t hug my waist made me look ginormous. Thankfully, after spending years avoiding dresses that I found gorgeous just because they weren’t form fitting, I have embraced it. Even better: shift dresses are the comfiest and I regret having missed out on them for so long.
