Makeup Muses: Emma Watson

Emma Watson is widely regarded as a beautiful woman. Perhaps it’s because we all collectively still see her as our beloved Hermione, or perhaps it’s because she’s been blessed with the beauty genes… Regardless, I love that she doesn’t let the obsession with her looks dictate her beauty routine. Instead, she carves her own path, and challenges herself to fill her makeup bag with cruelty free, eco-friendly, and natural products. At premiers she still makes bold statements, pushes boundaries, and takes risks, meanwhile day to day she focuses on simply enhancing who she is rather than molding her face to the current trends. More than a makeup muse, Emma Watson is my ultimate beauty inspiration.

Lip + Cheek Tint Review | The Body Shop

I haven’t had great experiences with lip and cheek stains in the past (I’ve ruined a few too many white shirts), but when Emma Watson called out The Body Shop’s Red Pomegranate Lip & Cheek Stain as one of her favs in her interview with Into the Gloss, I knew I had to try it. During her press tour for Beauty and the Beast Emma Watson documented her favourite eco-friendly, cruelty free, and traceable beauty and fashion products through the instagram page @the_press_tour (it’s quickly become a favourite of mine). Emma Watson’s interview with Into the Gloss (Glossier’s blog) also highlighted all of her favourite beauty products. I’ve been slowly going through the interview and trying out each product myself. Some are harder to find than this one – I had to hunt around on Amazon to get my hands on a tube of DHC’s Mascara, but in the end I hope to have in depth reviews of these great products so that those of you looking to shop cruelty free and eco friendly in beauty know what you’re buying! Here goes The Body Shop’s Lip & Cheek Stain. …

Trouser-Top Trend

The end of spring brings the season of proms, weddings, and other formal events. Alongside a surge in dress sales comes a surge in stress about what is or isn’t appropriate to wear. Countless texts from friends who are stressed about buying a dress online, lest it comes in looking like one of those tragic memes on twitter (yikes). I know the stress, I live the stress. I live somewhere where it’s impossible to find a dress that fits everything on my want list without breaking the bank. On top of that, when it came to finding a dress for a recent formal, none of my go-to sites (Zara, H&M, Topshop, Tobi) had anything I was committed to. I get seriously stressed about clothes: I know it’s superficial and doesn’t matter, but the narcissist in me broke down over semi-formal dresses and prom dresses at least 10 times in my senior year.

This year, I thought, F-it. If Emma Watson can wear a classy trouser-top duo on the red carpet, why do I feel the need to wear a dress to every formal event? And I started browsing in the trouser/blouse sections instead. It. Was. Glorious.

The BEST Red Lip Products

Recently I’ve been seriously loving a good red lip. I was inspired by Emma Watson (surprise surprise) as she said that whenever she’s got a big event she wears a red lip. I’ve always been torn about this because on one hand, a red lip makes me feel bad ass and bold and – as corny as it is – beautiful. I feel like you can’t go wrong with it, but then red lips are SO!! HARD!! to do right! Because as soon as your colour starts fading in the middle, and it starts looking like you’ve just got a weird red lip liner thing going on (you know what I’m talking about) or it smudges off your lips, it feels impossible to fix and you go from feeling 100% to 0%. The struggle.

DHC Mascara Review | Emma Watson's Beauty Routine

blog 8.jpgAloha pals! I closely followed Emma Waton’s Beauty and the Beast press tour through her Instagram @the_press_tour account, which can I just say was a great idea. Her goal on the tour was to use as many sustainable, eco-friendly and cruelty free products as possible, which she then shared on her instagram, and in interviews! It’s all lovely and well because as much as I’d love to buy products like those, I have such a hard time finding affordable options! During her press tour Emma did an interview with IntoTheGloss (aloha Glossier!) where she went over her beauty routine and her favourite beauty products. I’ve decided to try a handful of them out and give you an in depth review of the product, it’s ethical benefits, and it’s affordability….
