My Beauty Must-Haves 2019

Photographed by Tilly Wester

My Skincare and Makeup Basics

Surprise! It’s been a hot second since I wrote a beauty-related post. I was updating old posts recently and realised I haven’t shared my must-haves since 2016! Now I have a very lowkey approach to skincare and makeup. I’m low maintenance. There is one makeup bag in my care, and one little shelf of skincare. Mostly, this is because I’ve really worked out what is essential, and everything else got left behind. These are my beauty must-haves, 2019 edition.

The Monthly Memo #2 | I Quit My Job!

I Quit My Job and Edinburgh Fringe Chaos

Hello, hello, hello lovely people! August has been an exciting month indeed. The Edinburgh Fringe was on, I went to one, entire show, and the rest of the time I focused on not losing my head. So many people have descended upon the city! And so many costumes! So many acapella groups! Agh! Here’s the monthly memo/life updates for August. The big ringer? I quit my job! I’m no longer a tour guide in Edinburgh! I took one look at the Fringe, one tour elbowing through flyer-ers and shouting over street performers and then I said I’m outta here! (Not exactly). Other highlights include a weekend away, going back to Canada, and my brother getting married!

Sondeflor Classic Dress Review

Recently I purchased one of Sondeflor‘s gorgeous linen dresses after seeing them on Instagram and falling in love. The Peter Pan collars, the swooshy skirts, the class of it all! I only splurged out on one because I needed a dress to wear to my brother’s wedding. I figured it’s worth the extra expense since it’s for such a special occasion. Plus, it’s made of linen, by a sustainably-conscious brand, and as long as I treat it right it should last a lifetime. However, it’s still quite the investment, and I wasn’t 100% sure it would be worth it. So, for any of you out there who are in a similar position: here is my comprehensive Review.

Life Updates And Goals From July 2019

Hello, hello! Welcome to the first in my monthly life updates/chats series! I personally love reading monthly posts — whether they be goals, life updates, etc. It feels like a good way to sort of check-in with that person and see how life is going! The ‘Monthly Memo Life Updates’ will look past at the last month – in this case July – and monthly goals will look forward at the month to come – August. First up is what I got up to in July!

The Dangers of Tinder Dating

So. I’ve covered a LOT about dating in my Carrie Bradshaw series. Since moving to self-hosting, I’ve been going back and editing everything. One theme stuck out, the dangers of Tinder dating. Not the obvious serial-killer ones, but the more sinister ones lurking in the back of your mind. How many disappointing dates do I have to go on? Will I know when it clicks? Will it just make me jaded? As someone who started out on Tinder and found success, I feel like I’ve got some authority on the topic now. Probably more authority than I actually do have.

Arthur’s Seat Lit Up Yellow

*This post contains gifted items of clothing, both the coat and the jumper were gifted by Peregrine UK. Peregrine is a brand that I reached out to, to work with because they are Made in Britain, and use sustainable practices. They produce a really high degree of quality in their clothing!
I have been up Arthur’s Seat only once in my life. Situated at the tipy top of Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, it’s quite a little hike to get up, and, to be honest, I usually can’t be bothered. I go up Calton Hill every other week, and I regularly explore the other seven hills of Edinburgh, but I’ve only gone up Arthur’s Seat once. Today was not that day. Today we went up just high enough that we got a decent view, but more importantly, we got to get up close and personal with all the yellow gorse flourishing in Holyrood Park.
